Landscaping and Tree Services in Reston, VA

Reston is unlike anywhere else we work. It was planned around its trees, the houses sit in wooded clusters rather than on open lots, and much of what looks like a back yard is really the edge of a natural area.

That shapes the work completely. There is far less lawn, far more shade planting and mulch bed, and a constant job of keeping the woods from moving in — invasive vines, volunteer saplings and undergrowth creeping toward the house. Fall leaf volume here is heavier than anywhere else on our route.

What Reston properties usually need

Two jobs define Reston for us. One is the tree line: thinning, pruning and removing what has grown too close to a house or over a deck, and pulling out the English ivy and invasive vine that strangles mature trees here. The other is shade planting — customers who have given up on growing grass under a canopy and want a proper bed instead. Wooded lots also mean damp shaded decks, patios and siding, which is why power washing comes up so often.

Getting to you: Roughly thirty to thirty-five minutes from our base. We plan Reston work into set days rather than scattering it, which keeps the cost down for everyone.

Reston: common questions

Do you work on wooded cluster lots and natural-area edges?

Yes, and it is a good part of what we do in Reston — clearing undergrowth, removing invasive vines, taking down saplings and keeping the tree line back from the house.

Grass will not grow in my yard at all. What do you suggest?

Under a Reston canopy that is normal, and fighting it is expensive. We usually recommend converting to shade-tolerant beds with mulch, or a patio or path where you want usable ground. It looks better and it stops costing you money every spring.

Are you familiar with Reston Association standards?

We work to whatever your cluster or the association requires. Tell us the rules that apply to your property and we will keep inside them.
